So today I’m going to talk about a way I’ve earned money from home for quite a few years. I love to crochet and I sell my items on Facebook, Etsy, and at craft shows. Sometimes I come up with my own patterns, but lots of times I use free crochet patterns right from the internet! Sometimes I will use a pattern for a base and then do my own thing with the it.
How to choose what to crochet
If you’re going to be selling your items, it’s best to make things that are popular, especially with children. There are patterns out there for Paw Patrol, superheroes, cute hats, and an unbelievable number of cult items, such as skulls, Dr. Who, etc. Owls are something that have come back to popularity over the last few years and I love them. I’ve been known to make some funky ones and some really cute ones.
Once you’ve figured out the type of item you want to create, start your research. You may find patterns that you must pay for, free tutorials, or free crochet patterns. You have to be careful when using a free pattern, as some writers do not wish you to use their pattern for your own gain, only personal use or as a gift. And always give a shout out to the creator of the pattern you are using if posting information about it online.
Ready for some free crochet patterns?
I was browsing the web the other day for patterns and ideas for patterns and I ran across a few that were easy and free! How cool is that?
I love this one from Mama G. It’s one of the cutest free crochet patterns for an owl purse I’ve seen. I made two this past week. I did one an evening. Not sure about my color choices, though. Let me know what you think. I have some ideas to change this pattern up. I’m going to make a few that are larger for bigger girls and I was thinking of making some with winking or closed eyes. I’m also thinking of making a few small fronts only and attaching magnets to the back for the fridge.
Red Heart Yarn shared this pattern for an owl mug wrap. I made one last night. Mine is a little dull, it needs to be brighter in my opinion, but it was such an easy and FREE crochet pattern! This one might be cute with, instead of buttons for the eyes, embroidering closed eyes or one eye open.
Persialou has some cool patterns as well. This one is not an owl, but super cute. It can be a pencil, makeup, or whatever pouch. This is another project I did this week in one evening. It might be cute with an applique attached.
I have a free pattern here as well, for a cute Easter chick!
Crocheting is a great hobby to have, whether you’re doing it for fun or to earn extra money from the comfort of your home. So start your search today for some cool, funky, free crochet patterns! And I really hope you enjoy these patterns as much as I did.
